Project Rules Generator

Create AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, or Cursor project rules from your stack, commands, and conventions. Free, browser-based, with downloadable files.

Your details → your document

01 / Project overview

Choose a format and introduce your project.

02 / Commands & conventions

Use the commands and patterns that exist in your repository.

Use the actual commands from your project. Nothing is guessed or executed.

03 / Working rules

Include only the agreements you want your agent to follow.

Working rules

Use existing components, utilities, and installed dependencies before adding new ones.

Keep changes scoped to the requested task. Avoid unrelated refactors and new abstractions without a concrete need.

Run the relevant available checks. Report what passed, what failed, and what could not be verified. Do not claim unrun checks passed.

Never commit credentials, tokens, or environment files. Never expose secrets in output or client code.

Use semantic HTML, associated labels, keyboard access, visible focus, and reduced-motion support.

A little context.

Project instruction files give coding assistants a concise reference for working in your repository. This generator keeps the useful parts together: purpose, stack, commands, conventions, and verification rules. It uses your answers and selected templates rather than guessing how your repository works.

Good questions.

Which format should I choose?

Choose AGENTS.md for agents that read that convention, CLAUDE.md for Claude Code, or a Cursor .mdc project rule. The generator displays the destination path for each format. Check your assistant's documentation for supported behavior.

Does this use the older .cursorrules format?

No. Cursor exports use .cursor/rules/project.mdc with frontmatter and alwaysApply enabled. AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md exports use plain Markdown.

Will these rules enforce themselves?

No. They are instructions for an assistant, not access controls or a replacement for linting, tests, and code review. Only include commands and conventions that actually apply to your project.
